Baltasi Great Mosque celebrates 20 years

December 5, celebrations were held to mark the 20th anniversary of the Baltasinsky Great Mosque. The event attracted many well-known public, spiritual and government figures.

Among the guests there were deputy mufti of Tatarstan Rustam Hazrat Khairullin, head of RT municipality of Baltasinsky municipal region Ramil Nutfullin , Rector of Russian Islam university, professor Rafik Mukhametshin , deputy of the RT State Council, a well- known Tatar philanthropist Farid Miftakhov, and others.

The first floor was given to head of the Baltasy regional administration. He congratulated all on the anniversary of the mosque and acquainted guests, many of whom were members of the clergy from other regions of Tatarstan, with information about the region, in particular, he spoke about history of the relationship between local administration and mukhtasibats, about the processes of spiritual rebirth. He noted that today there are 40 functioning mosques in the region, 35 of which hold classes on primary program of Islamic education.

Returning to the subject of the Baltasy mosque, he stressed that it is a focal point in revival of traditional cultural values and is shaping trends of religious life throughout the area. He also

recalled that here in 2007 publishing of the newspaper Nasyyhat began, which became the official body of muhtasibat , and in 2010 a children’s madrasa As- salaam started.

Then, the floor was given to the Deputy Mufti Rustam Hazrat Khairullin who congratulated on behalf of Mufti of RT Religious Board of Muslims Kamil Hazrat Samigullin on this momentous occasion and conveyed his greeting. He also noted a high role which this mosque had played during the whole time in the revival of spiritual values. Letters of gratitude from mufti were presented to imam mukhtasib of Baltasi region Jalil Hazrat Fazlyev and imams of Baltasy mosque.

On behalf of the State Council of Tatarstan Farid Miftakhov spoke who congratulated residents of Baltasy on 20th anniversary and wished the mosque to serve for the sake of the people , and handed imam Hazrat Ramil Bikbaev a memorable gift.

Congratulations were heard on behalf of RIU Rector, Professor Rafik Mukhametshin . He congratulated all on this momentous occasion and spoke about the importance of educating younger generation in a religious mainstream, the first knowledge about Islam in children just laid in mosques.

Baltasinsky Great Mosque was opened in 1994 on January 12. When in Baltasy the second mosque opened in 2007, the first mosque was called the Cathedral mosque. Imams Sharifzhan Hazryat and Basyyr Hazrat worked for long in it. Today, the imam of the mosque is Hazryat Ramil Bikbaev.
