New addition of the Iranian collection of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan

On December 27 at 11:00 at the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan there will be a solemn ceremony of transferring to the museum funds of the Iranian national women’s costume with the participation of the acting Consul General Mr. Alibemian Egbali Zarch of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The museum’s funds hold a variety of monuments of Iranian culture, which testify to the wide cultural and trade contacts of the population of the Middle Volga region with Iran.

Thanks to the initiative of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan in May, June and July this year, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan received more than forty items of modern Iranian arts and crafts.

Acting Consul General Mr. Alibemian Egbali Zarch delivered 19 exhibits, including a set of items related to the holiday of Nauruz, samples of carpet embroidery, the Koran in Arabic and Persian, the publication of poems by G. Tukay in Persian.

From the mayor of the city of Tabriz, Mr. Sadegh Najafi Hezerlu received 17 subjects, among them – fine handmade carpets, decorative vases, books about Tabriz.

The Governor of Khorosan-Rezavi Province, Mr. Ali Reza Rashidiyan donated a national musical instrument “tar”, a stone dish with traditional ornaments, a decorative mat and a pen case for writing supplies to the museum.

The items donated by our esteemed guests were already displayed at the exhibition “The Art of Iran: History and Modern Traditions” and became a significant addition to the Iranian collection.
