On the eve, in  the village Bazarnye Mataki of the Alkeyevsky district,   the first ever  belt wrestling championship of the Republic of Tatarstan among the younger boys and girls  took place.   The athletes of 12-14 years competed in freestyle and classical one on  belt  wrestling  for the right to enter the reserve of the national team. 22 municipalities of the republic   have exposed  their teams.   286  belt wrestlers have  appeared on the mat.

Opening   the championship   executive director of the RT  Federation Championship   on belt wrestling  Khabir  Khbibullin noted that the need to hold the first official Republican competition  for boys and girls  of   junior age  was dictated by the increase in the number  involved in this  sport. “Today in our country more than 15,000 athletes involved in the struggle on belts. Sections and clubs operating in all corners of Tatarstan. This contributes to our national traditions and the unique spectacle of this kind of  martial arts. Only in recent years Tatarstan champions 35 times rose to the podium of the World Championships “, – he stressed.

Popularity  of  belt  wrestling  has been marked also by  head of  the Alkeyevsky district Alexander Nikoshin. According to him, only this winter, the   district   hosts  two republican  championship, and the local fighters were among the first on all ranking tournaments.

By the way, the head was right. At the end of the competition the  of team Alkeyevsky district   has  became the  absolute winner in the team event.
