Canadian Tatars and Bashkirs at the   Taste  of Russia   Russia Festival

June  11, 2019

For the first time, the Tatars and Bashkirs of Canada took part in the annual festival of the Russian-speaking community Taste of Russia. The festival was held on June 9, 2019 at Mel Lastman Square in downtown Toronto. Representatives of the community Kurultai Canada presented a tent with an exhibition of souvenirs and household items.

A special place in the exhibition was occupied by Farhana Zinatullina’s embroidery – the Kul Sharif mosque. One of her works – Niagara Falls – is already stored in the collection of the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The ensemble Duslar sang the song of Ufa limes by Rim  Khasanov, and hundreds of residents of the city were their listeners. The tent was visited and greeted by the participants of the festival by  Consul General of the Russian Federation in Toronto, Kirill Sergeyevich Mikhailov.

Alfia Dulatova prepared a delicious gift for the Consul – magnificent marshmallow slides and a Kosh tele. The holiday was very joyful, on a high note, dynamically. Costumes brought by Ildar and Alla Samehanov from Ufa, as well as made by the craftswoman Rimma Mukhitova, became a real decoration.

On this day, many learned about our people, our culture and way of life. Ahead before  the society Kurultai Canada new events, one of which – the celebration of the Day of Russia!
