Days of Tatar culture are held in Karelia

On October 2, in the Republic of Karelia, the events of the cultural and educational forum “From the Motherland of Tuqay to the Land of Kalevala” have  started.

The project is initiated by the Interregional Public Organization “Theater of Poetry“ CREDO ”with the grant support of the Ministry of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia. The forum’s partners are the Administration of the Petrozavodsk urban district, the Karelian regional public organization “Society of Tatar culture“ Chulpan ”, the Interregional public organization“ World Congress of Tatars ”, the Center of National Cultures and Folk Art of the Republic of Karelia.

Tatar folk songs, playings of dumbyras and mandolins, funny kurai tunes are heard from 2 to 6 October in Petrozavodsk State University, Derzhavinsky Lyceum, Motor Transport Technical School, School No. 2 of Petrozavodsk, in educational institutions and cultural institutions of Sheltozer, Kondopoga and Svyatozer. Soloists of the Kazan City Philharmonic Society Vaes Bayramov and Alsou Valiullina will acquaint the young people of Karelia with the vibrant musical flavor of Tatarstan, the soloists of the ensemble “KAZAN” Polina Kruglikova and Sergey Efremov will hold master classes in dance, associate professor of design and national arts of the Kazan Federal University Madina Makhmutova

will open the secrets of the Tatar folk doll, reveal the secrets of the national costume,  director of the Kazan Centralized Library System will invite schoolchildren and students to the wonderful world of national rites and ancient customs of the Tatar people.

On October 2, at the evening of friendship in the Basilik restaurant,  President of the International Association of National Tatar Culture and Cuisine, Rizida Khusainova, conducted master classes on cooking famous Tatar dishes for all guests of the holiday.

Forum events allowed the residents of Karelia to make a virtual tour of sunny Tatarstan, get acquainted with the philosophical parables of the national poet Gabdulla Tukai, hear the play of talyanka, spin in the fiery Tatar dances of “Apipa”, “Shoma bass” and others, find parallels between the folk traditions of Tatarstan and ancient culture indigenous people of Karelia.

Forum events serve  developing  of the Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Tatarstan, which was signed in 2014.
