In St. Petersburg, presentation of the film “Musa Jalil – sentenced to immortality” took place

August 25, at the cinema museum “Universe of Water” presentation of the film “Musa Jalil – sentenced to immortality”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the year of literature and the 71st anniversary of the death of the legendary Tatar poet, Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Jalil took place. The film was made with financial assistance from the Inter-regional cultural and educational public organization “Tatar community in St. Petersburg and Leningrasdky oblast ” and with the support of the Permanent Mission of Tatarstan in St. Petersburg and Leningrad oblast.

Biography of Musa Jalil – history of a remarkable man. His great poems became a real testament to struggle and courage, the truth of which was revealed only years later. Badly wounded Musa Jalil was captured, having entered the German Legion “Idel-Ural”, he created an underground group. Under the guise of cultural and educational activities Jalil visited the camps, recruiting new members and organized shoots. A few days before prepared by him revolt, he was arrested a year later – executed.

Musa Jalil’s history is inextricably linked with Leningrad oblast – here he fought in the war, in 1942, close to Tosno he was

seriously wounded and captured. May 19, 2011 on the square in the house 18 on the Havanskaya street in St. Petersburg a monument to the poet was unveiled, and in 2012 in Tosno Leningrad oblast , a monument-bust to the Hero of the Soviet Union, the participant of the Luban offensive Musa Jalil was opened .

Work on the film took place at home of poets in Orenburg Region, Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Leningrad region and Germany. The presentation of this film in the near future will also take place in Kazan and Orenburg.
