Muslims begin the holy month of Ramadan

On Friday evening, May 26, with sunset, Muslims begin Ramadan – the month of fasting, prayer, spiritual testing and good deeds.

“Oh you, who believe! You are prescribed a fast, just as it was prescribed to your predecessors, perhaps you will be afraid. Fasting should be a few days. And if one of you is sick or is on the road, then let him fast for the same number of days at another time. And those who are able to fast with difficulty, it is necessary to feed the poor in redemption. And if someone voluntarily does a good deed, then the better for him. But you better fast, if you only knew! In the month of Ramadan, the Qur’an was sent down – a sure guide for people, clear evidence of faithful leadership and discernment. The one who is to be found this month must fast. And if someone is sick or is on the road, then let him fast for the same number of days at another time. Allah wishes you relief and does not wish you any trouble. He wants you to bring to completion a certain number of days and magnify Allah because He guided you to a straight path. Perhaps you will be grateful “(Surah al-Baqarah, ayah 183-185).

Ramadan (Ramadan) is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. In 2017, it falls on the period from May 27 to June 25.

Ramadan ends with the second great holiday of Uraza Bairam, or the Feast of the Rapture. It comes after sunset on the last day of Ramadan and lasts three days.
