June 24, at the village Lyambir of the Lyambirsky district the XIV republican national folklore festival “Sabantuy-2018” will be held. In Mordovia this holiday has long been interethnic and it involves representatives of different peoples living in the republic and guests from other regions of the republic. And in the football in 2018 in Sabantuy will be able to take part also foreign fans.
In the program of the holiday: the fair of products by masters of arts and crafts and folk arts and crafts, the ceremony of honoring people of labor, a concert of creative collectives of Mordovia. Traditionally, Sabantuy abounds with sports competitions, to which athletes come not only from many regions of the Republic of Moldova, but also from other regions. Each guest will be able to show his strength and daring in kettlebell lifting, arm wrestling, volleyball, mini-football, tug-of-war.
But one of the most popular events of the holiday is the national wrestling on the belts “Koresh”, the victorious batyr (hero) traditionally receives a live sheep.
