Photo Marathon “Literacy in Tatar” (Tatarcha hatasyz!)

The World Forum of Tatar Youth, Ministry of Education of the Republic of Tatarstan and the newspaper “Vatanym Tatarstan” announces the start of the Republican photomarathon “Tatarcha hatasyz!” (Tatar literate).

As known, in Tatarstan at the legislative level two official languages – Tatar and Russian have been accepted. It is in these two languages all the signs should be made on the streets of the Republic – billboards, names of shops, cafes and restaurants, promotional notices, placards, signs, road signs, etc.

Often, however, we see the opposite – signs in the cities of the country are made on one – the Russian language. In those rare cases where the signs are made in the Tatar language, there are grammatical errors.

To remedy this situation, the Tatar youth takes active part and initiated such a Photo Marathon.

The marathon task is to find and photograph signs, ads, billboards, banners, banners, notices, placards, signs, road signs, etc., made in the Tatar language with grammatical, syntactical and stylistic errors. And trace that all signs are made in two state languages.

Further, all photographed signs will be posted on the portal of “People’s Control» (https://uslugi.tatar.ru/open-gov) for errors.

Photo Marathon will take place in two stages – from February 21 to May 20 May, 2015.

The first stage starts on February 21 – International Mother Language Day. To take part in the contest are eligible participants lone, regardless of nationality, gender and age.

The first phase lasts for a month and at the same time it is considered the final qualifying round for the Photo Marathon, which will take place in Kazan.

At the first stage the following tasks and conditions are fixed before the participants:

– Photographed signs are placed on the portal of “People’s Control» (https://uslugi.tatar.ru/open-gov) and send to the official e-mail photomarathon ([email protected]) one file indicating the name and contact member;

– Photographs are taken by the participants until May 10 2015;

– In the second stage photomarathon are members who sent the largest number of photos signage with errors.

The second round pass the participants, who sent the largest number of photos with errors. The second stage of the Photo Marathon is held on May 16 in the city of Kazan. At the start of each participant will receive a travel card, with a description of the job.

Photomarathon winners will choose a competent jury.

Photomarathon winners will be awarded prizes – IRhone, cameras and electronic books. The award ceremony will be held in Kazan May 20, 2015. The participants also are due to receive valuable prizes, provided by “Beeline” (“VimpelCom”), which already for the past few years is an undoubted friend and sponsor of the campaign “Min Tatarcha sulyashyam!” (I speak Tatar!). Moreover, it is the company “Beeline” first among cellular operators started providing services to the population in the republic in the Tatar language.

The main goals and objectives of photomarathon is to expand the scope of the Tatar state language; the formation of a sense of civic responsibility, education of patriotism and love for the Fatherland; organization of active recreation of intellectual youth, development of creative abilities of participants.

Photo Marathon is held in order to implement the State Program “the preservation, study and development of the state languages of the Republic of Tatarstan and other languages in the Republic of Tatarstan for 2014 – 2020 years.”
