November 19,  at the Veshkaymsky district of the Ulyanovsk region  the Day of the Tatar language and culture  was celebrated. With the participation of representatives of the regional and district national autonomies and public organizations, the round table summed up the Year of National Unity, and discussed  development of Tatar culture in the municipality.

At the  Veshkaymsky district, a lot of work is being done to strengthen the consent and unity of representatives of various nationalities, and to preserve their national identity. The guest of the holiday, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Ulyanovsk Regional Tatar National Cultural Autonomy, Akhmedullov Rifgat Fazullovich, gave a positive assessment to the coordinated joint work of local governments and national Tatar autonomy to preserve and develop Tatar culture, language and national traditions. He also expressed gratitude to Galia Fetkullova, who for more than 10 years has been the chairman of the Tatar national-cultural autonomy in the region.

Over the years of the existence of national autonomy, systematic work has developed to preserve the culture and traditions of the Tatar people. Sabantuy is annually celebrated, the district competition “Wreath of Friendship” is held, the Tatar language association “Tugan Tel” has been functioning for several years. Students of the Center for Further Education and national cultural autonomy take part in district and regional competitions and festivals of Tatar culture.

We  remind  that over 1600 residents of Tatar nationality live in the district.
