April 19 in Kazan the final of the IV International Olympiad on Tatar language and literature will start, in which 500 pupils and students from various Russian regions and foreign countries will take part. This was announced at a press conference at the news agency “Tatar-Inform” by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Ildar Mukhametov.
According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Tatarstan, a solemn opening ceremony of the Olympiad will be held April 19 at the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. There, in the territory of the Universiade Village, pupils and students will compete to be the best expert in the Tatar language and literature. The closing ceremony will be held on April 22 in the concert hall of the Tatar Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M. Jalil.
Ildar Mukhametov said that the Olympiad has been held in Kazan since 2012. It is attended by students of 8-11 grades and students of higher and secondary educational institutions of Russia and foreign countries. The speaker stressed that the geography of participants is increasing every year. So, if the first Olympiad was attended by about 1,500 people from 15 subjects of the Russian Federation and 9 foreign countries, currently – already more than 12 thousand participants from 39 regions of Russia and 12 foreign countries. The deputy minister said that the Olympiad is held in two rounds – in absentia, and intramural. Correspondence round was held on Kazan Federal University portal online testing format at the end of last year. Of the 12 thousand participants of the online testing 500 participants have been sorted out with the highest scores for the final stage. According to him, the final will consist of two phases – with intellectual and creative writing assignments, with the presentation of own experience, achievements, as well as presentations on the anniversaries of G. Tukai and M. Jalil. For the participants, a rich cultural program is provided. Also, these days will be held Forum of the native language, dedicated to G. Tukai, the action “Min Tatarcha soyleshem” and round tables with participation of writers.
Ildar Mukhametov noted that the winners will be awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes – electronic handheld device and presents with national specifics. All 500 participants will receive diplomas and memorable gifts. This year will arrive in Kazan participants from Japan, Turkey, Belgium, Finland, France and other countries. There will be played two Grand Prix – for the Russian and foreign participants.
