May 13, 2017, the village Shapshi of the Vysokogorsky district will feature a final stage of the Republican festival of Tatar folklore “Iske Kazan tuguruk ueny”, in which 52 folklore groups and soloists from 21 regions of the Republic of Tatarstan will take part. In total – about 400 people.
“Iske Kazan Tugerek uey” has been attracted connoisseurs of traditional culture and national identity from all over Tatarstan and the Volga region for eight years already. For eight years of its existence, the festival has become a landmark event in the cultural life of Tatarstan.
Organizers of the festival: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Republican Center for the Development of Traditional Culture, Executive Committee of the Vysokogorsky Municipal District.
The main objectives of the festival are the preservation, revival and popularization of authentic forms of Tatar folk traditions, introduction of children and youth to national cultural values, identification and support of traditional culture bearers, talented collectives and performers.
The festival-contest is held in 7 nominations:
Folk song (lyric, playful, lullaby, takmak, etc.);
Instrumental music (plays on accordion, kurai, kubyze, surnay, mandolin, dumbra, etc.);
Folklore and ethnographic composition (ritual, play, everyday scenes, dramatization of a fairy tale);
The lyric-epic work (bayit, munajat, “book tune”, dastan, etc.);
Reconstruction of the folklore of the early historical stages (the period of the Bulgarian state, the Kazan Khanate, the Golden Horde: excerpts from dastans, legends, dances of warriors, scenes from the life of urban Tatars of the 18th century, etc.).
In addition to the main review competition, a contest of improvisers and songwriters “Takmak etesh” will take place.

14.00 – awarding owinners and diplomats of the festival
14.30 – round dance “Tyugyaryak uen”.
Master classes on spinning wool, embroidering kalfak, working with leather mosaic, playing harmonies, preparing pancakes, brewing herbal tea, weaving lapteys, etc. will be held as part of the festival.
