In St. Petersburg the 110th anniversary of the legendary submariner-Tatar Ismail Zaydullin celebrated

October 27 this year in the building of the Russian Geographical Society, which was established on the highest command of Tsar Nicholas I in 1845 to “study the native land and the people inhabiting it” a solemn meeting of the Polar Commission of the Russian Geographical Society was held. The unique experience of I. Zaydulin, having sailed the Northern Sea Route, became an invaluable asset of submarine forces of the Soviet Union (Russia), and allowed in post-war peacetime for dozens of nuclear submarines successfully make the inter-fleet passage. During this passage, many commanders of nuclear submarines were awarded the highest government award – Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Russia.

The sons of Ishmail Zaydulin, captain Zaydulin Jamil Izmailovitch and Zaydulin Rustam Izmailovitch continued naval dynasty and followed the footsteps of their father, became known and honored in the Navy submariners, the commanders of nuclear submarines.

With the direct support of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tatarstan in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, and with the initiative group consisting of I. Yu Kravtsov – Chairman of the Council of Veterans of nuclear submarine of the Northern Fleet, “Kazan”, representatives of dynasty of Ismail Zaydulin, approved a list of measures to perpetuate the memory fo hero-submariner.

During the solemn meeting, I.Y. Kravtsov noted the uniqueness of the passage by Ishmail Zaydullin. With the advent of nuclear submarines in the sixties the Soviet submariners have conquered the North Pole and began to implement the trans-Arctic underwater passages. Their names are known, but looking back, it must be remembered that their feats were became feasible thanks to the courage and heroism of those who were ahead, whose way was unknown. Among the

Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region R.N. Valiullin said: “The meeting of the Polar Commission of the Russian Geographical Society is just one of the points of the plan of action for the commemoration I.M. Zaydullin.
