Monument to Shigabutdin Mardzhani to be opened in Kazan

This week, if weather conditions allow, a monument to the enlightener Shigabutdin Mardzhani will be installed in Kazan. It will be on Mardzhani Street, next to the mosque that bears his name. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Milli Shura of the World Tatar Congress Vasil Shaikhraziev told the Tatar-inform news agency.
Today, Deputy Prime Minister held a field session with the participation of city leaders, representatives of ministries and DUM RT, to get acquainted with the progress of work on the establishment of the monument.
“We have long dreamed that the Mardzhani Square appeared in Kazan and his monument was erected. The city authorities have allocated a vast area next to the Mardzhani mosque, near Lake Kaban. Great works have already been done in the public garden. Monument prepared. Now they are collecting a pedestal. Until the end of this week, if the weather permits, we will install a monument on a pedestal, ” chairman of Milli Schur noted.
According to the deputy prime minister, the installation should be completed by November 10. The date of the official opening of the monument will be scheduled after the completion of work in the park and on the embankment. “It will be a real holiday, we are planning to open it on the Tatar Muslim holiday,” said Shaikhraziev.
The 200th anniversary of the Tatar enlightener, scientist Shigabutdin Mardzhani in the republic was officially announced. During the year, scientific, religious and cultural events were held on this occasion. According to Vasil Shaikhraziev, they will continue in November, December and in 2019.
