A Tatar homestead is being created for Sabantuy in Petropavlovsk

In Petropavlovsk (Kazakhstan), preparations continue for the Tatar folk festival. An ethno-village is being built on the square near the Independence stele, which will become one of the main locations of the celebration.

The work is being carried out by a team of craftsmen from the Kukmorsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The ethno-village will showcase traditional Tatar daily life. It will feature a museum, a small mosque, four trade pavilions, a well, a real wood-fired stove, and a guest house. The territory will also include a stage and several other structures.

Particular attention is drawn to the traditional Tatar stove. The craftsmen built it by hand from scratch. During Sabantuy, Tatar pancakes and other national treats will be cooked here.

The guest house is intended for official delegations. According to the curator, this is where the festival’s distinguished guests are planned to be received, including the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

Sabantuy will take place on July 25–26. Guests will be offered national games, exhibitions of folk crafts, a concert program, and a gastronomic festival of Tatar cuisine. Additionally, a bust of the outstanding Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay is planned to be unveiled in Petropavlovsk.
