The project “Scientific and Methodological Support for the Study of the Tatar Language and Culture in the Republic of Bashkortostan” has been officially launched by the regional public organization “National-Cultural Autonomy of Tatars of the Republic of Bashkortostan”. The initiative, aimed at promoting the Tatar language, supporting gifted youth, and improving the qualifications of educators, is being implemented using grant funds from the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The project will be carried out on the basis of the Department of Tatar Philology and Culture at Ufa University of Science and Technology. A key focus of the initial stage is work with the department’s unique book collection, which in 2025 was supplemented by the personal library of Professor A.G. Shaykhulov. As part of the project, a comprehensive analysis, systematization, and digitization of at least 10 fundamental research works will be conducted. Based on the collected materials, articles are planned for publication. Concurrently, a modern classroom for Tatar language and literature will be set up at the department, equipped with tablets for students to enable them to use the latest information technologies for knowledge assessment.

Working with the book heritage is an opportunity to touch the living history of Tatar philology and build the future upon it. We are not just preserving books; we are digitizing knowledge, making it accessible to a new generation of researchers. I invite everyone who holds the Tatar language dear — from schoolchildren to experienced scholars — to become part of this big and important endeavor,” noted Albina Khaliullina, project leader and head of the Department of Tatar Philology and Culture at UUST.
Who can participate? The project’s primary target groups are students, schoolchildren, and teachers of the native Tatar language. The project envisions the active involvement of over 150 schoolchildren and 100 students from Bashkortostan.

International Scientific Forum “Turkic and National Philology in a Multilingual and Multicultural Space” (November 2026). The forum will feature two conferences (including a youth conference) and a competition for research papers on the Tatar language.

Regional Distance Olympiad in Tatar Language and Literature for Students (November 2026). The event will be held using UUST’s distance digital education system.

Republican Distance Olympiad for Schoolchildren in Grades 9–11 (February 2027). A large-scale competition aimed at identifying talented youth.

Republican Scientific and Methodological Seminar for Teachers, timed to coincide with International Mother Language Day, will bring together educators from the republic to discuss traditional and innovative teaching methods.
Throughout the project’s implementation period, consultations, master classes, and webinars will be held, including in distance format.
The project holds significant scholarly and pedagogical value. Its implementation will help preserve and develop interest in the Tatar language among young people, promote systematic study of the language and literature, and synthesize advanced teaching experience. The creation of a bank of Olympiad tasks and methodological materials will strengthen the status of the Tatar language as an important element of the region’s cultural landscape.
