Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, Vasil Shaykhraziev, has left for Abkhazia on a working visit.
The trip is timed to coincide with preparations for the Sabantuy festival in Sukhum, which will take place on July 3 on the Mahajirs Embankment. The celebration is being organized with the support of the Governments of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Abkhazia.
On behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars and the Aktanysh Municipal District of the Republic of Tatarstan have been appointed responsible for the preparation and holding of the festival on Tatarstan’s side.
The large-scale Tatar national holiday will be held with the participation of official delegations. The presence of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and the President of Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, is expected.
As part of Sabantuy, cultural attractions will be organized: stylized Tatar wooden houses and a mosque will be set up along the embankment, along with themed pavilions dedicated to the history, daily life, and cultural heritage of the Tatar people.
Sports and traditional games will also be held. For guests, traditional competitions, children’s playgrounds, and an international tournament in the national belt wrestling style, Koresh, will be organized.
A large concert program is planned. Performances are expected from the best creative ensembles from Tatarstan, presenting a vivid array of national music, dances, and folklore.
For all attendees, a 300-liter samovar with fragrant tea and a large 1,200-liter cauldron with aromatic Tatar lamb shurpa (4,000 portions) will be set up, recreating the atmosphere of a hospitable Tatar celebration.
