Tomsk Oblast has begun active preparations for hosting the XXVII Federal Sabantuy. During a meeting between Governor of the region Vladimir Mazur and Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars Vasil Shaykhraziev, it was decided that the holiday will take place on July 3, 2027. The venue chosen is a landmark location — the historic city center, the Governor’s Quarter.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of preparations for the Federal Sabantuy, the development of Tatar culture in Tomsk Oblast, and the strengthening of interethnic ties between the Republic of Tatarstan and Tomsk Oblast.

Special attention was paid to the development of the Center of Tatar Culture. Quite recently, it acquired its own “Garden of the Nation”: volunteers and residents planted an alley of trees. This has become a symbol of the unity of peoples.

Vladimir Mazur spoke about measures to preserve interethnic and interfaith friendship. At the end of May, the Tatars of Tomsk, together with other peoples professing Islam, celebrated Kurban Bayram. In June, the city hosted Sabantuy, which in Tomsk coincides with City Day and is celebrated on a grand scale. The holiday took place on the city’s main Novo-Sobornaya Square.

Vasil Shaykhraziev highly praised the work of the people of Tomsk in preserving traditions. He noted that holding the Federal Sabantuy right in the city center will allow residents and guests to see the rich culture of the Tatar people in its entirety.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed that all stages of preparation for the holiday will be kept under personal supervision.
