Bismillahir-rahmanir-rahim
Assalamu Alaikum va Rakhmatullahi va barakyatuha
Dear brothers and sisters!
Praise to Almighty Allah that we once again become happy witnesses of the onset of Holy Ramadan – Muslims will meet it today after sunset!
The month of Ramadan is primarily associated with fasting – the daily abstention of Muslims from food and drink. During the fasting month of this fertile month, the heart of each believer experiences a spiritual uplift, a person begins to feel the “sweetness of faith” and the joy of sharing a meal with family and friends. After all, uraza is a unique chance to improve your temper, overcome bad habits, tame your nafs (ego), turn over all the negative pages of your life and eventually lose a heavy burden of your own sins! Almighty Allah in the Honorable Kurian said: “Oh, you who believe! You are ordered to fast, just as it was prescribed to your predecessors – perhaps you will be god-fearing ”(Sura al-Baqarah, ayat 183). And the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “The fasting person has two joys: one – when he gets fast, the other – when he comes before the Lord [on the Day of Judgment] and is happy for the fast he observed.” Thus, fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the most valuable types of worship, the true value of which we will understand only on Judgment Day.
During fasting, it is important to pay special attention to your inner world: to wish people well, not to envy, to speak only good, not to deceive and not speak evil. The Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “He who continues to lie and bear false witness in the month of fasting, vainly deprives himself of food and drink.” Therefore, dear fellow believers, in these coming days of Ramadan, I urge you to sincerely turn to the Almighty and promise Him and yourself never to return to the former shameful deeds and habits.
Dear fellow believers! Every moment of the month Ramazan is valuable and fraught with invaluable rewards: for good deeds in this grace-filled time, the reward increases many times over. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) instructed: “If my community knew how much good Ramazan contains, he would have wished him to last a whole year.” So let this year Ramadan be a time to unite the hearts of our ummah, to purify from the defilement of sins and bad thoughts, make us generous and responsive. I prayerfully wish that sincere good deeds, fasting, divine services, and duas of all Muslims should be initiated by Almighty Allah. Amine.
