The regional film market, being one of the key events of the business platform of the XIX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, will be held on September 6 on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin.
The current regional film market will be the third within the KIMFF. At the first event, more than 30 companies from Russian regions were presented. Last year, the film market expanded due to the invitation of representatives and distribution companies from CIF countries, Iran, Turkey, and Egypt. This year, for the first time, the KIMFF film market will be held in public places in the Kazan Kremlin on September 6–8. Within its framework, the presentation of film studios, distribution companies, online theaters, TV channels, and films by independent producers and filmmakers will take place. The regional film market is organized by GBUK RT “Tatarkino”. The official partners are the museum-reserve Kazan Kremlin, Fotozoom and MTD Media.
This year, for the first time, the business platform will be held in the public offices of the Kazan Kremlin. Within its framework, it is planned to hold a regional film market and an international pitching of film projects. The film market was initially focused on regional producers, distributors, and municipal cinemas. We noticed a significant interest in the film market last year. The lack of repertoire in Russia was evident, and distributors are focusing on the regional cinema for potential rental opportunities, according to Milyausha Aituganova, the executive director of the KIMFF.
According to her, in addition to the presentations of their companies, this year the organizers of the film market will offer accredited participants a tour around movie locations near Kazan. Foreign manufacturers and distributors from India, China, Iran, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan are expected to participate.
Regional film producers of the Russian Federation, foreign film studios, distributors, representatives of public cinemas, private cinemas, online cinemas, and TV channels, production companies, independent producers, directors, and screenwriters can participate in the regional film market. The film market is a working platform for the implementation of joint projects in the field of cinema. Among its tasks are the establishment of cooperation between the “players” of the film industry, the integration of international film organizations into the Russian market, and the creation of a catalog of films that will popularize regional cinema in Russia and CIS countries.
