A newly built street in Vladivostok has been named after Hero of the Soviet Union Gilfan Batarshin.

Gilfan Abubakerovich Batarshin was the first Soviet border guard to receive this title. As the commander of a maneuver group in the Posyet Border Guard Unit of the NKVD of the USSR, he took part in the battles at Lake Khasan and was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Vasil Shaykhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, visited the newly built street and reviewed the site where a commemorative plaque will be installed in his honor.
