On June 2, the Kazan State Conservatory named after N.G. Zhiganov will present the legendary opera “Djalil” by Nazib Zhiganov in the new building of the Tatar State Academic Theatre named after Galiaskar Kamal. This event, dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, the 80th anniversary of Victory, and the anniversary of the Kazan Conservatory, will pay tribute to the outstanding Tatar composer Nazib Zhiganov and will take place on his memorial day (Nazib Zhiganov passed away on June 2, 1988).

The opera “Djalil,” created based on the libretto by Akhmet Faizi, is dedicated to the life and immortal feat of Musa Jalil — an exceptional Tatar poet who became a symbol of courage and resilience during the Great Patriotic War. His name is forever etched in history as a symbol of unyielding will and devotion to the Motherland.

The premiere of the opera by the Kazan Conservatory took place on April 15, 2025, at the Saydashev State Great Concert Hall and solemnly opened the festival “The Kazan Conservatory — A Contemporary of Victory.” The performance garnered significant interest from the Kazan audience: the hall was full.

The performers include students and faculty of the Kazan Conservatory: soloists, the Opera Studio Choir (led by Alfiya Zapparova), the Student Choir of the Conservatory (artistic director Yuri Karpov), the Choir of the Special Music School at the Conservatory (led by Svetlana Ustyugova), and the Symphony Orchestra of the Kazan Conservatory under the baton of Rinat Khalitov.

The production was carried out at the initiative and with the support of the rector of the Kazan State Conservatory, Professor Vadim Dulat-Aleev.
