Rustam Minnikhanov: “Selet is a model program for our republic!”

The Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, visited the second session of the 14th International Youth Educational Forum “Selet” – Henerler Biler Forum (Crafts Biler Forum). The Biler Forum is a space for fluent use of Tatar, Russian, and English, a place for exchanging ideas and news, enhancing personal and professional qualities, and exploring global trends in culture, art, education, media, and IT.

The International Youth Educational Forum “Selet” is held from July 8 to August 1 on the territory of the Bilyarsk Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve.

This year’s forum includes three sessions, each dedicated to different areas:

  • Selet Biler Forum (general education),

  • Hönärlär Biler Forum (Crafts / Junior Skills),

  • Aldıngılar Biler Forum (The First / Forward thinkers).

The forum brings together 9,000 children from all districts of the Republic of Tatarstan and regions of Russia: Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Mari El, Udmurtia, and the Samara, Kirov, Orenburg, Perm, and Moscow regions.

The “Selet” Forum is one of the hallmark projects of our region, held with the support of the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

The Henerler Biler Forum is taking place from July 18 to 24, involving students from “Selet-Adymnar” classes, leaders of regional Selet clubs, students from the Selet “Almagach” school, and polylingual “Adymnar” schools. The session program focuses on three areas: creativity, media, and information technology. The forum serves as a unique platform for discovering, developing, and realizing the participants’ inner potential in these areas.

The forum includes master classes, open discussions, workshops, and interactive meetings with leading experts from the republic and across Russia. Each day of the session features lessons and games, sports competitions, and cultural evenings. Interactive educational formats are held with top speakers and experts from Tatarstan and Russia. There are also workshops on applied arts and design with national flair, as well as special projects on the history of Bilyarsk and the EcoSelet initiative.

The Rais of the Republic spoke with participants of the Henerler Biler Forum, visited the session’s educational spaces, and shared warm wishes with the Selet community:

“These sacred lands of Bilyarsk always draw me in. In a time of globalization, preserving our language and traditions is one of our key missions. The Selet organization, alongside families, plays a crucial role in shaping children’s proper moral values and guiding them toward a bright future. All of this is the result of joint teamwork. Thanks to the dedication of counselors and leaders, children receive proper upbringing. Childhood is the most beautiful time! Though we didn’t have so many opportunities back in the day, we were still very happy. Cherish your youth and childhood! Selet is a model program for our republic!”

The Selet Youth Center has been actively operating for more than 30 years. The Selet movement, initiated in 1994 by enthusiastic faculty from Kazan State University in Arsk (Tatarstan), began as an educational wellness camp for 65 children. Over the past 30 years, it has grown into a social-educational complex involving more than 25,000 gifted children and youth from Tatarstan, over ten Russian regions, and abroad.

As part of the “Seletle Jey” (Talented Summer) wellness campaign, 24 themed camps (alans) are being held this year and will run until the end of August.

Selet is a space of opportunity! Here, children find creative like-minded peers, make lifelong friends, and take steps together toward a bright future.
