120th Anniversary of the Mosque in Starye Urgagary Celebrated in the Alkeyevsky Mukhtasibat

On July 26, the village of Starye Urgagary in the Alkeyevsky district hosted a solemn event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of its mosque. The jubilee celebration brought together esteemed guests, including the Mufti of Tatarstan, Kamil Hazrat Samigullin, head of the Alkeyevsky district Alexander Nikoshin, district imam-mukhtasib Irek Salakhiev, as well as religious and public figures, and sponsors. In their speeches, the guests expressed sincere wishes for the mosque to continue serving as a center of spiritual growth for believers for many years to come.

Mufti Kamil Hazrat recited verses from the Quran and offered his guidance to the faithful. He also emphasized the vital role mosques play in the life of every Muslim. The Mufti expressed deep gratitude to the residents of the village and presented letters of appreciation to notable individuals who made significant contributions to the preservation of the mosque.

What makes this mosque’s history particularly remarkable is that its doors remained open to worshippers even during the Soviet era.

Guests also visited the mosque’s museum exhibit, which houses religious books, shamails (Islamic calligraphic panels), and Islamic relics—including the mosque’s original crescent. This exhibition was curated thanks to the efforts of the mosque’s imam, Ildar Hazrat, a graduate of the “Muhammadiya” madrasah, who also teaches the villagers the basics of Islam.

After the anniversary ceremony, guests and congregants entered the mosque and performed the noon prayer, led by Mufti Kamil Hazrat.

As part of his working visit to the Alkeyevsky mukhtasibat, Mufti Kamil Hazrat Samigullin also held a meeting with district head Alexander Nikoshin. They discussed cooperation between the mukhtasibat and local authorities, the activities of local Muslim communities (mahalle), and other current topics, including support for participants of the Special Military Operation (SVO) and their families.

The Mufti and the district head also visited the new mosque “Өмет” (Hope) in the village of Bazarnye Mataki, which was inaugurated in August last year.

Currently, there are 32 mosques operating within the Alkeyevsky mukhtasibat.
