On the 25th day of the month of Jumada al-Akhirah (December 15), Moscow is hosting the scientific and practical conference “DIALOGUE ‘RUSSIA – THE ISLAMIC WORLD’: Shared Cultural Heritage as the Foundation of Cooperation.” The conference is organized by the Strategic Vision Group “Russia–Islamic World,” the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the International Islamic Mission. The academic gathering is chaired by the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan and Head of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia–Islamic World,” Rustam Minnikhanov. The conference is attended by the Mufti of Tatarstan and Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan (DUM RT), Kamil hazrat Samigullin.
The event is dedicated to a significant date for traditional Russian Islam—the 950th anniversary of the first university-type educational institution on the territory of modern Russia and Europe, the Nizamiyya madrasah.
Addressing the participants of the conference, the Rais of Tatarstan and Head of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia–Islamic World,” Rustam Minnikhanov, noted that the dialogue between Russia and the Islamic world has deep historical roots. It is an interaction between civilizations long familiar with one another, which have formed a shared cultural and historical space across Eurasia.
“The most important concepts for these civilizations are justice and mutual support, as well as respect for older generations, family values, peoples, and religions,” he emphasized.
Rustam Minnikhanov also spoke about such an important instrument of cooperation as the Strategic Vision Group “Russia–Islamic World.”
