A delegation from Tatarstan participates as honorary guests in the 2nd International Quran Recitation Competition in Ingushetia

From August 16 to 18, the city of Nazran is hosting the Second International Quran Recitation Competition, dedicated to the memory of the first Mufti of Ingushetia, Sulambek Yevloyev. A delegation from Tatarstan, led by Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Hazrat Samigullin, is taking part as honorary guests.

The Mufti is accompanied by world-renowned scholars from Kazan: Sheikh Ma’mun ar-Rawi — a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, member of the Commission for the Preparation of the Handwritten Quran of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan, and holder of the highest degree in Quran memorization (master of the ten qira’at); as well as Sheikh Saif ibn Ali al-Asri, professor at the Bulgarian Islamic Academy and Doctor of Sharia Sciences. Notably, Sheikh Ma’mun ar-Rawi is serving on the jury of the competition, representing Russia alongside judges from Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, and Iraq.

The event is organized by the “Voshal” Charitable Foundation together with the Ministry of Foreign Relations, National Policy, Press, and Information of the Republic of Ingushetia. The competition has attracted outstanding Quran reciters and hafiz from 32 countries, including Russia, Turkey, Indonesia, China, Iraq, Malaysia, Kenya, Germany, Palestine, Jordan, Somalia, Oman, France, the Netherlands, Iran, Bahrain, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and others. Russia is represented by participants from Tatarstan (Kazan), Bashkortostan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, the Omsk Region, Moscow, and other regions.

The aim of the competition is to encourage Muslim youth to memorize and study the Holy Quran, as well as to identify and support talented reciters. The prize fund amounts to $51,000.

The contest is held in two categories: Hifz (memorization of the entire text of the Holy Quran) and Tartil (also known as Tilawa — beautiful and correct recitation of the Quran).

For the audience, valuable prizes have also been prepared, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and Umrah trips.
