A festive “Parade of Harmonists” took place in Kazan

On August 30, coinciding with the Day of Tatarstan and the Day of the City of Kazan, the festival of folk art “Play, Harmon!” commenced in the square in front of the Kamala Theatre. Approximately one thousand accordionists paraded through the streets of Kazan as part of the 39th national festival.

The “Harmonists’ parade” is a vibrant procession featuring accordionists and amateur folk groups from the Republic of Tatarstan and various regions of the Russian Federation, with interactive stops at notable locations including Tukay Square – the underground passage – the clock on Bauman Street – Rodina Cinema – the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan – May 1 Square – the Kazan Kremlin.

This year’s parade was led by Honoured Artist of Tatarstan Firdus Tyamaev. Danis Shakirov, Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars, also participated in the event.

In total, over 1,000 individuals took part in the procession, including performers of folk songs, dances, instrumental music, soloists, and ensembles. Participants comprised amateur performers, professional artists, as well as students and graduates from creative educational institutions. The festival successfully united artists and groups from various regions of Russia in the capital of Tatarstan.
