Within the framework of the events dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the International Association of Tatars of the European Union “Alliance of Tatars of Europe” today in Budapest, at the Russian Center for Science and Culture, a literary and musical meeting “Bukharaev: the Facets of Creativity” was held. For the evening, everyone was invited to recall or first get acquainted with the works by  Ravil Bukharaev – a poet, prose writer, playwright, translator, researcher.

Citizen of Russia, Ravil Bukharaev was a voluntary Ambassador of the Tatar and Russian culture beyond its borders. He was born in Kazan in 1951, died in London in 2012. The writer, journalist, commentator and creator of programs on the BBC, Ravil Bukharaev was primarily a Poet. The native Tatar language became for him the foundation of creativity. Ravil Bukharaev translated Tatar poetry and prose into Russian and English. He also created his works in Russian, English, Hungarian. He is the author of more than forty books, he wrote theatrical plays and documentary films. Among them: Historical Anthology of Kazan Tatar verse (Londres – New York, 2000); Poetry of the Golden Horde (Moscou, Ed. Natalis, 2005); The story of Joseph. A translation of Kol Gali’s Kyss’i Yusuf, with commentaries »(Londres, 2010); History of Russian Islam ◦ Conversations about northern Islam (Saint-Pétersbourg, 2015).

The evening was conducted  by Louisa Bukharaeva, president of the French association “Dialogue perspectives” (Paris). At the meeting, Ravil Bukharaev’s poems were heard in Russian, Tatar, English, French and Hungarian. The program includes the performance of Russian classical and Tatar folk music. Hungarian friends and colleagues Ravil Bukharaev will share their memories of the Hungarian page of his life and work.
