On May 14, a working meeting was held at the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars with a delegation of representatives from the Moscow Government and the Moscow House of Compatriots. The guests were warmly welcomed by the Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars and Deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Danis Shakirov. In his speech, he spoke about the key areas of activity of the WCT, its major projects, and its multifaceted work with compatriots both within the Russian Federation and abroad.
Rainur Khasanov, Chairman of the Public Organization World Forum of Tatar Youth and Head of the Committee for Work with Tatar Youth, presented on youth-related initiatives. He highlighted several prominent initiatives, including the All-Russian campaign “Min tatarcha seyleshem” (“I Speak Tatar”), the Pechan Bazaar festival, the Aqıl Fabrikası (Mind Factory) project, among others.
Almaz Khaliullin, Head of the Special Projects Committee, introduced participants to the concept and history of the “Tatar Kyzy” (Tatar Girl) competition. The contest aims to preserve and develop the native language, traditions, and culture by fostering youth interest in the historical and cultural heritage, while enriching the life experience of the participants with new knowledge and skills. The 2025 final of the competition will be held in Orenburg.
Irek Sharipov, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee and Head of the Committee for Work with Branches in the Republic of Tatarstan, spoke about cooperation with municipal districts of Tatarstan. Razil Zingatullin, also Deputy Head of the Executive Committee and Head of the Committee on National Education, Culture, and Sports, discussed efforts to preserve and promote national education. He emphasized the organization of roundtables, seminars, and sports festivals, as well as support for educational institutions with methodological materials and books in the Tatar language.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants discussed prospects for joint activities, experience sharing, implementation of joint projects, and cooperation in the field of information exchange.
