On November 19, 2019, in the city of Uralsk, the West Kazakhstan Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan of the West Kazakhstan Region and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation, the Public Association “Cultural Tatar Center” prepared and held the International Music Festival dedicated to the composer Nazib Zhiganov.
The festival was attended by children’s music schools in the city of Uralsk, soloists of the Philharmonic of the West Kazakhstan region and guests from Kazan.

Nazib Gayazovich Zhiganov (1911-1988) – an outstanding composer of the twentieth century, whose works entered the world musical culture – was born in Kazakhstan, the city of Uralsk. The founder of Tatar professional music, People’s Artist of the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor, winner of numerous orders and medals, laureate of State Prizes. The author of 8 operas, 3 ballets, 17 symphonies, numerous chamber, vocal and instrumental works, as well as songs. With his participation and leadership the opening and activity of such musical institutions and organizations as: Kazan State Conservatory, Tatar State Opera House named after M. Jalil, State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan, Union of Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan Secondary Special School is associated.
