To commemorate the 140th anniversary of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan launched a large-scale republican project titled “Tukayny bergelep ukıybız. Reading Tukay together” on January 8.

As part of the project, special literary clubs have begun operating in libraries across the republic. Weekly meetings held on Thursdays will be dedicated to reading and studying Tukay’s poetic legacy. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in his works in both Tatar and Russian.

The first work that opened the readings was Gabdulla Tukay’s famous poem “Tugan Tel” (“Native Language”).
