Secondary school No. 146 was named after Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Jalil. This decision was approved by the St. Petersburg Toponymic Commission on October 4, 2023.

The initiators were the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Tatarstan in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the Tatar National-Cultural Autonomy of St. Petersburg, the school management and the Tatar community of the city.
