The 3rd Republican Festival of Women’s Craft “Bista Shale” (“The Sloboda Shawl”) brought together masters of downy shawl knitting and folklore ensembles from many districts of Tatarstan. Razilya Mukhametrakhimova, head of the Novoarysh village library in the Rybnaya Sloboda district, shared her impressions of the event with a Tatar-inform correspondent and spoke about the preparations for it.
“This festival makes us happy, it inspires us. Every year more and more people want to take part, and many guests also come to visit. Preparations for the holiday begin several months in advance. This year as well, we gladly attended rehearsals at the district House of Culture,” she said.
According to Razilya Mukhametrakhimova, the craftswomen prepare their best works for the festival.
“We knit shawls, and during the celebration we organize a fashion show with these samples. Together with the Tatar women’s organization Ak Kalpak, we also arrange an Aulak oy – traditional women’s gatherings with handicrafts. I am sure that the ‘Bista Shale’ festival will continue to live on and develop,” she said.
