In Kabul, a meeting was held between the leadership of the Russian Business Center in Afghanistan and the head of the Tatar elders of Afghanistan, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Scholars of Kabul Province, Alhaj Maulavi Sultan Ahmad.
“The Tatars of Afghanistan extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, for his interest in the life of Afghan Tatars. He is a true national leader. This year we plan to send a delegation of Afghan Tatars to the Millet Zhyeny (‘National Gathering’) forum. We thank Vasil Shaykhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars for the invitation to this important event for Tatars worldwide, and in turn we invite him to visit Afghanistan,” said Alhaj Maulavi Sultan Ahmad during the meeting.
For his part, the head of the Russian Business Center in Afghanistan, Rustam Khabibullin, noted that the Tatars of Afghanistan have gone through a challenging path of national identity. They have succeeded in having “Tatar” included as a nationality in Afghan passports, while members of the community receive education and actively realize their potential in various fields of science, as well as in the agricultural and financial sectors.
“I would also like to highlight the support of the Council of Tatars of Afghanistan during the official delegation of Tatarstan’s visit to Kabul,” Khabibullin told Tatar-Inform.
The national gathering Millet Zhyeny will be held in Kazan from August 26 to 28 under the motto “Tatarstan — My Spiritual Homeland.” This decision was made at a meeting of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars. As part of the event, the World Forums of Tatar Women and Youth, as well as the All-Russian Congress of Tatar Local Historians, will be held.
