On March 12, 2026, the World Congress of the Tatars will host an All-Russian round table conference featuring the presentation of new scholarly and local history books published in Tatarstan.
The event is held within the framework of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, the Year of Military and Labor Valor in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Year and 140th anniversary of the birth of the classic Tatar literature figure Gabdulla Tukay (1886-1913) (declared by the WCT), the 120th anniversary of the birth of Hero of the Soviet Union and Lenin Prize laureate Musa Jalil (1906-1944) and the commemoration of his 10 comrades-in-arms – anti-fascists of the Kurmash-Jalil underground group, preparations for the 85th anniversary of the defense of the Brest Fortress and the western borders of the USSR in 1941, the 630th anniversary of the spread of Islam and the migration of the ancestors of the Tatars in the Belarusian lands and the holding of the Year “Kazan – Cultural Capital of the Islamic World”, the 100th anniversary and memory of Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, International Academy of Sciences of Nature and Society, International Academy of Informatization, Honored Inventor of the RSFSR, Professor R.I. Utyamyshev (1926-1999), the 60th anniversary and memory of Doctor of Historical Sciences A.Sh. Kabirova (1966-2020), the 90th anniversary of the outstanding Tatar historian, public and statesman, Honored Scientist of the Tatar ASSR and the Russian Federation, first Chairman of the Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Honorary Professor of Kazan University, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan I.R. Tagirov, and preparations for the 100th anniversary of veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, holder of the Order of Glory, participant in the liberation of Vienna, Berlin, and Prague, writer, journalist, and local historian A.M. Malov, the implementation of the main directions of the World Congress of the Tatars’ long-term project “Tatars – Strategy for Action,” and the Work Plan of the Committee for Work with Tatar Local Historians of the WCT Executive Committee and the Regional Public Organization “Society of Tatar Local Historians” of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Participants and invited guests: scholars, local historians, museum workers, journalists, writers, and public figures, representatives of government bodies and mass media, members of councils and activists from local history structures and organizations in Kazan, cities and districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, and neighboring regions of the Russian Federation with historically compact Tatar populations (online in Kazan, offline in regions of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation).
