An ancient tatar tradition revived at the Deniskino village club

Winter gatherings are all about warmth, comfort, and heartfelt conversations! The Deniskino Village Club has revived an ancient Tatar tradition—“Kich Uturu”, or evening gatherings. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together, reminisce about the past, share joys, and enjoy a cup of aromatic tea.

For generations, “Kich Uturu” was a cherished village pastime, where women gathered in the evenings to work on handicrafts and engage in leisurely conversations. Young girls embroidered, while older women knitted, exchanging news and life experiences. The gatherings also featured games, songs, and dances.

This time, members of the “Skillful Women” club (“Ungan Khatyn-kyzlar”) and other participants revisited the traditions of their youth, recalling favorite games, cheerful songs, and lively dances.

The evening ended in a warm and friendly setting by the samovar, as everyone enjoyed hot tea with chak-chak (a traditional Tatar dessert) and sweets, continuing their heartfelt conversations.
