An exhibition dedicated to the memory of Marcel Salimzhanov will open in Moscow

January   05,  2019

In Moscow, at the State theatre museum  named after A.A. Bakhrushin  on January 12, the exhibition “theatre of Marcel Salimzhanov” will begin its work. It is dedicated to the life and work of theater director, people’s artist of the USSR Marcel Salimzhanov (1934-2002).

In 2019, the director would have turned 85 years old.

The exhibition will feature photos of performances staged by Marcel Salimzhanov, costumes and props, as well as photos from the director’s personal archive and video recordings of his performances.

As chief director of the Tatar state academic theatre after  G. Kamal  he was permanently 36 years old. In 2001 he was awarded the national theatre award “Golden mask “in a nomination “For Honor and Dignity”.

Marcel Salimzhanov headed the theater in 1966, shortly after the young graduates of the Moscow theater school named after M. Shchepkin joined his troupe — Rinat Tazetdinov, Nazhib Ikhsanov, Ravil Sharafeev, Azgar Shakirov and others.

Turning to the diverse traditions of the world theater, he firmly established in the Tatar theater new principles of play  scenography.

The director staged more than 100 performances of various genres:” American “(1969),” Faded stars “(1971),” Capricious groom “(1975),” Kazan towel “(1985),” Blue shawl ” (1985) and many others. They are included in the Golden Fund of the theatre of the multinational culture of Russia.

In 1979, the creators of Almandar-playwright Tufan Minnullin, director Marcel Salimzhanov and leading actor Shaukat Biktemirov — were awarded the state prize of the RSFSR  named after K. S. Stanislavsky. About the incredible success of  “Almandar  from the village of Aldermysh” says the fact that the play for more than thirty years   has remained in the repertoire of the theater.

Marcel Salimzhanov did not believe those directors who said that they do not care — whether the audience goes to their performances or does not go. “When I see that the auditorium is only half full,”he said,” I have a feeling of the utter senselessness of what I am doing.” And the biggest achievement for the director considered  that the theatre  has created its  devotee  “the kamalovsky” spectator.

The exhibition “Theatre of Marcel Salimzhanov” will run until February 10, 2019.

Working hours: from 11.00 to 20.00 (Tuesday-Sunday).
