From December 23, 2024, to February 4, 2025, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, in collaboration with the Republican School of Cinematic Arts, will hold the I and II “On Guard of the Fatherland” competitions. The competition invites submissions for the best series of short videos aimed at forming negative attitudes toward terrorism, Ukrainian nationalism, and neo-Nazism, as well as rejecting mass killing ideologies, explaining the social importance of preventive actions taken by government authorities, promoting individuals who have made notable contributions in the fight against terrorism, and portraying the characteristics of destructive organizations, their goals, and recruitment methods. The competition will also expose the crimes of international terrorist organizations and reveal the criminal nature of terrorism’s ideology.
The competition is part of the state program “Ensuring Public Order and Counteracting Crime”.
This competition is aligned with the objectives of the federal projects “Digital Culture” and “Creative People” within the national project “Culture”.
The competitions are dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, as announced by the President of the Russian Federation, V.V. Putin.
Submissions for the competitions must consist of four videos. The duration of each video must be at least 2 minutes, with the total length of the video series not exceeding 12 minutes. No genre or stylistic restrictions are set for the competition entries.
The theme of the I competition: the negative portrayal of Ukrainian nationalism and neo-Nazism.
The theme of the II competition: the negative portrayal of terrorism and extremism.
Both competitions will be held in the following categories:
- “Anti-Propaganda”
A series of videos focused on anti-propaganda.
- “Civic Position”
A series of videos about the unity of the people in the face of threats, as well as mutual assistance and self-sacrifice by citizens to help and save others.
- “Heroes of Our Time”
A series of videos about defenders of the Fatherland ensuring its peace and well-being in the present time.
- “Unity of Government and People”
A series of videos about the protective measures implemented by government authorities, services, and the Armed Forces to safeguard civilians during times of danger and threats.
- “Memorial”
A series of videos about historical feats in the country’s struggle for its future and the people who made such feats possible.
Each submission may be entered into one or more categories. Both individual works and team submissions are accepted.
The application period is from December 23, 2024, to February 4, 2025.

Prize fund for the competitions:
Winners in each category will receive 10,000 rubles, third-place winners will receive 20,000 rubles, second-place winners will receive 30,000 rubles, and the overall winners of both competitions will receive 50,000 rubles.
The final stage and awards ceremony for the I and II competitions will take place on February 7, 2025, at the Kazan State Institute of Culture (Kazan, Orenburg Tract, 3).
