In the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, applications are now being accepted for the poetry contest “Saumy, Kazan!” (“Hello, Kazan!”). The main goal of the project is to create a collection of poems and epics dedicated to the city of Kazan. The total prize fund for the contest is 1.6 million rubles, as announced by Deputy Head of the Executive Committee Guzel Sagitova during a business meeting on Monday.

The contest invites poets to showcase their talents in two categories:

• “Cycle of Poems about Kazan”

• “Epic Poem about Kazan”

The final outcome of the contest will be the publication of a poetry collection featuring the winning works.

Authors aged 18 and older are welcome to participate and share their creativity. Submissions must be sent by August 15 to the email address: saumykazan@mail.ru. According to Guzel Sagitova, the works must be written no earlier than 2025.

The prize for the “Cycle of Poems” category is 70,000 rubles, while the winner of the “Epic Poem” category will receive 100,000 rubles. The total prize fund amounts to 1.6 million rubles.

In addition, applications are being accepted until July 15 for the “UZ TELEM” project competition, aimed at preserving and developing the Tatar language. Last year, six participants won, and their projects have already been implemented. Among them were a national music festival, a play based on a Tatar folk tale, a video podcast, and an educational publication for children. The winners of this year’s contest will be announced in early August.

It was previously reported that on August 9, the fifth anniversary of the “Itil” Festival of New Ethnic Culture will take place in Gorky Park. The event blends modern trends with ancient traditions of the peoples of the Volga region.
