Exactly 105 years ago Gabdulla Tukay’s heart stopped beating.

April 15, 2018 (Sunday) at 10 o’clock at the Novo-Tatar cemetery of Kazan, the leadership of Tatarstan, writers, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, laureates of the State Tukay Prize, public figures will pay tribute to Gabdulla Tukay. Flowers will be laid on the grave of the poet, prayer will be read.
Exactly 105 years ago Gabdulla Tukay’s heart stopped beating. On the day of the poet’s death, lessons were not taught in madrassas, newspapers and magazines had hundreds of words of condolence from around the world. Russian and foreign newspapers also posted publications of grief. The Petersburg “Muslim Newspaper” printed Russian poems in memory of the poet, in the newspaper “Den” they gave a great article, in which they called Tukay “the Tartar Pushkin”. In the academic collection “The Oriental Digest”, published on the initiative of Maxim Gorky, was printed biography of the poet and his poems translated into Russian. The “Russian Journal” of London published on his pages a biography of the poet and a poem “Par at” (“A pair of horses”) in English. A huge number of publications related to Tukay and his departure were in Turkish publications.
For last farewell the poet was seen off from Klyachkin’s Bolnitsa. He was buried at the Novo-Tatar cemetery.
