On February 15, a unique event will take place at the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan – Day of the Original. In a solemn ceremony, the original “Moabit Notebooks” by Musa Jalil will be taken out from the museum’s collections; anyone can see them on this day.
The event takes place at the National Museum every year on the birthday of Musa Jalil. At 11.30 there will be a laying of flowers at the monument to the poet-hero on May 1 Square, and at 12.00 the program at the museum will begin.
“Moabit Notebooks” is a collection of poems by Musa Jalil, written by him in the Berlin Moabit prison. The collection contains 93 poems, varying in content and mood – from exposing the crimes of the Nazis to humorous sketches. 58 years ago, the notebooks were transferred to the National Museum by Musa Jalil’s wife Amina. The original “Moabite Notebooks” is kept in the museum’s collections and leaves them only on the poet’s birthday.
