On February 23, the 5th Intellectual and Sports Competition, “Batyr Gaile – Strong Family 2025,” was successfully held at the sports complex of Yaroslavl State Medical University. The event was organized by the Yaroslavl Sunday School “Tatar Tele” and the Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of Tatars of the Yaroslavl Region.

On Defender of the Fatherland Day, teams showcased their creativity in self-presentations, tested their knowledge in an intellectual quiz, and competed in thrilling relay races featuring elements of traditional Tatar games: sack racing, tug-of-war, running with a yoke, and hoop walking! Team captains faced off in a special challenge, demonstrating their goalkeeping skills.

The competition was part of the project “Preserving Heritage: A Year-Long Family Program for Learning the Tatar Language at the Yaroslavl Sunday School in 2025,” made possible through grant support from the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Participants enjoyed a vibrant and festive atmosphere, received memorable awards, and took home special gifts.
