The Children’s Tatar Theater Studio “Apush” will present a new production titled “Tukay. Yarlykagyl” (“Tukay. Forgiveness”), dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the great poet Gabdulla Tukay. The premiere will take place on January 20 at 6:00 PM at the G. Karimov Kazan Tatar State Theater for Young Audiences.

The author of the psychological drama, based on Gabdulla Tukay’s work “Isemdä Kalganlar” (“My Memories”), is writer Gelyusa Battalova. The stage director is Bulat Gataullin, an actor of the G. Karimov Kazan Tatar State Theater for Young Audiences and a laureate of the Golden Mask Award and the M. Jalil Prize.

Do childhood grievances follow a person throughout their life? Do they make one stronger—or, on the contrary, destroy them? The performance explores these complex questions through the powerful and sincere acting of the young performers from the “Apush” studio.

Thirty-two students of the studio, who study at the Moskovsky Cultural Center, will take part in the upcoming premiere. The young actors were coached in stage speech by Guzel Galiullina, an actress of the K. Tinchurin Tatar State Theater of Drama and Comedy, and in vocal performance by Aliya Khamzina, choirmaster of the same theater.

The composers of “Tukay. Yarlykagyl” are Aidar Abdrakhimov and Bulat Gataullin. Choreographers are Darina Timergalina and Milyausha Gilmutdinova. The scenographer, set designer, and lighting designer is Dmitry Solopov. Motion design was created by Polina Malykh, an actress of the Kazan State Theater for Young Audiences.
