Deputy Chairman of the National Council, Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars, and Deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Danis Shakirov is currently on a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. As part of his trip, he took part in an international practical conference and delivered a welcoming address.

The event, titled “Tatars of Semey: History, Traditions, and Cultural Development,” was held in a roundtable format and was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Tatar Public Center of the Abay Region. The main organizer of the conference was the Tatar Public Center, led by its chairman Jalil Akhunzhanov.

During his visit, Danis Shakirov also visited several significant memorial sites in the Abay Region. The delegation from Tatarstan laid flowers at the monuments to the Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay and the Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev.

For more than thirty years, the Tatar Public Center of the Abay Region has been actively working to preserve Tatar culture, language, and traditions, to strengthen ties between generations, and to promote friendship among peoples. The Center organizes concerts, Sabantuys, supports talented youth, develops cultural cooperation with Tatarstan, and contributes significantly to the social and cultural life of the region as well as to interethnic harmony in Kazakhstan.
