The World Congress of  Tatars consider priceless heritage of our country’s federal structure of the state, inter-ethnic peace and harmony of its people. Today, when the world as a whole creates a difficult situation, the shadow of the economic crisis at any moment can touch and Russia. In the current environment, we all need to act responsibly and to value the stability of Russian society. Therefore, we do not understand the irresponsible actions of certain political forces in Moscow, trying to destabilize the situation and push through the State Duma a bill impairing the language rights of the peoples of the Russian Federation. We are talking about the draft federal law “On Amendments to the Federal Law” On the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation.”

First of all, it should be emphasized that the bill contradicts the Constitution of the Russian Federation. The constitutional provision on the state status of national languages of subjects of the Russian Federation at the time confirmed by the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, the proposed law through extraconstitutional standards drafters virtually nullify the state status of the languages of the national republics.
