Exhibition dedicated to Khadi Taktash opens at the House of Tatar Book

On September 6th, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan’s branch, the Museum of the History of Tatar Literature and Memorial Flat of Sharif Kamal (known as the House of Tatar Book), will host the exhibition “Gasyrlar hәm minutlar” – “Centuries and minutes”, dedicated to the life and work of Tatar poet Khadi Taktash.

The exhibition derives its name from Taktash’s poem “Centuries and Minutes”, a tribute to Lenin published one hundred years ago in 1924. However, the exhibition encompasses a broader scope than just this single work.

This project draws upon materials from Taktash’s personal collection of memorabilia and his personal archive. “The National Museum possesses a substantial collection of Taktash’s materials”, notes Aidar Shaikhin, head of the House of Tatar Book.

The exhibition showcases personal belongings, manuscripts, letters, and documents belonging to Khadi Taktash. Rare photographs, books, and other items from the collection are also on display.

A comprehensive cultural program will accompany the exhibition, including a chamber concert, a series of lectures exploring the life and works of this literary giant, discussions and workshops, and a walking tour of significant locations associated with Khadi Taktash in Kazan.
