The Museum of Contemporary Art named after Diaghilev opened an exhibition of a famous avant-garde artist, a member of many international exhibitions, a brilliant representative of contemporary art, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Hamza Sharipov.
His work is valuable not only for the country, but also for the entire Tatar world – working in the mainstream of national art, Hamza contributes greatly to the revival of spiritual values of his people. Not only this. He enriches contemporary art by national motifs, expands its borders. Artist seeks the roots of spirituality, brings them up to today’s audience, using modern methods and forms, mainly relying on the avant-garde abstraction.
In his work oriental philosophy, Sufism and rich Tatar folklore motifs may be found. Hamza is a worthy successor in the visual arts traditions of Bucky Urmanche, his devotion to national values , his creativity, he urges us to love our native language, traditions and culture, what makes us unique.
The opening was attended by artists and the public of St. Petersburg , Tatar artists and Tatar public , academics and staff of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tatarstan in the city of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region.
