A large-scale event will take place in Sviyazhsk from July 26 to 28.
Participants and spectators of the festival will get acquainted with various aspects of Russian culture from the 16th to the 21st centuries – primarily sacred and folk music, painting and architecture, and crafts.
Each of the three days of the festival will be dedicated to a separate era, with its characteristic features. Spiritual chants will be performed in the churches of Sviyazhsk , 12 choirs from different regions of Russia will perform.
Folklore groups that study Russian musical culture and present it in a traditional and modern manner will perform on the music stage of Rozhdestvenskaya Square .
The program of the first day of the festival will be completed by the introduction of the trio – Sergey Starostin, Andrey Kotov – masters of Russian folklore, Vladimir Volkov (plays double bass and keyboards in the group “AuktYon”) with the program “Soulful songs for every day”, the headliner of the second day of the festival will be the group “Palms” “- their work is based on the songs of the famous guslar Maxim Gavrilenko. With the support of bass guitar, oboe, keys and drums, songs with harp take on a completely unexpected, modern sound. The festival will be concluded by “Otava-Yo”, one of the most famous folk groups in Russia, they will perform everyone’s favorite hits and songs from the new album.
You will be able to dance folk dances and perform round dances together with folklore ensembles at street locations in Sviyazhsk on any day of the festival.
A large program has been prepared for children with craft workshops and folk games. Sports – lapta, burners, small towns, games of skill and round dance games. The public’s favorite parsley-maker Vsevolod Mizenin (Papiemashenniki Theatre) will give a series of performances at the Lazy Market , and will also present the folk band “Triton’s Deluge”, a genre they call folk-n-hop. In the Krylosov House, master classes on calligraphy and icon painting will be held every day. The premiere screening of the animated series “Legends of the Bolgar” will take place at the Sviyazhsk Olginsky Children’s Shelter for Diligence.
During the festival, it will be possible to visit the thematic exhibition “Russian spiritual singing culture: book monuments and research”, prepared jointly with the Scientific Library. N.I. Lobachevsky Kazan Federal University and the Library of the Kazan Orthodox Theological Seminary. There will also be a round table “Russian Sacred Music. History and modernity.”
From August 16-18, the festival will continue in the Great Bolgar Museum-Reserve
