The fifth season of the historical and cultural competition “Tarkhan” received around 600 applications from senior secondary school students. A total of 147 students from 18 municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan successfully passed all selection stages, which included a test on the history of Russia and Tatarstan, as well as writing an essay titled “My History.”

Forty high school students will take part in the in-person round of the competition. Only six of them will ultimately become finalists and receive priority admission to Kazan Federal University’s Institute of International Relations, History, and Oriental Studies, specializing in History of the Turkic Peoples.

The project has been implemented for the fifth consecutive year with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan Federal University, and the World Congress of Tatars. It aims to promote interest among young people in studying the history, traditions, and culture of Turkic peoples. We wish all participants good luck and success!
