Final of the “Tatar Kyzy 2025” Contest held in St. Petersburg

On June 29, the final round of the regional stage of the International “Tatar Kyzy” (“Tatar Girl”) contest for participants from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region took place at the “Rybatsky” Cultural Center.

The project became an important cultural event, uniting those passionate about preserving Tatar culture and traditions. This year, special attention was given to shaping the modern image of a Tatar girl — active, educated, cultured, and proud of her roots.

In preparation for the final, the contestants went through an intensive program that included:

  • Creating video presentations about their families, hobbies, and national identity;

  • Performing creative acts — from singing in Tatar to dancing and reciting poetry;

  • Participating in a culinary stage where they presented traditional Tatar dishes;

  • Showcasing their craftsmanship in a handmade competition;

  • Completing an intellectual stage that tested their knowledge of Tatar history and culture, and their ability to reflect on the role of the modern Tatar woman in society.

As a result of this vibrant and meaningful final, two winners were selected: Ralina Shaidullina and Aliya Vakilova.

They will represent St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region at the semi-final of the International “Tatar Kyzy” contest in Kazan.

The Audience Choice Award went to Aliya Murtazina, who charmed the audience with her sincerity, charisma, and love for her culture.

All contestants, organizers, and winners received certificates of appreciation and memorable gifts on behalf of the World Congress of Tatars, represented by the Executive Director of the “Tatar Kyzy” International Contest Directorate, Almaz Firdavisovich Khaliullin.

The support from the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tatarstan in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, along with the World Congress of Tatars, highlights the importance and relevance of such projects that unite the younger generation and strengthen cultural ties between regions.

The contest in St. Petersburg was organized by Yuliya Khuchasheva, with active support from the civic movement “Piter Buylary.”

The final in St. Petersburg was not only a celebration of beauty and talent but also a key platform for fostering national identity. It once again demonstrated that the young generation of Tatars is eager to preserve and enrich the rich cultural heritage of their people.
